Episode 1 transcript
[tek] We are NetherGames Now, a (currently) unofficial news community run by tek, Admin, Skeletron, and Mighty. Although we’re still classified unofficial, we’ve been given permission to have small sneak peaks about upcoming news on the network. We are now bringing you episode one of our news series. Here’s Skele.
[Skele] Firstly, there has been some changes to the rules for allowed modifications. Now, things such as freelook, visual hitboxes, and fullbright are all allowed, and won’t get you punished. There have been some debates about this topic, but there seem to be no plans to change this rule back at this stage.
Bit by bit, there has also been an account portal revamp, here are some of the new features available to everyone. You can now view mutual friends, and manage friends on the portal instead of having to go in-game. This is a great feature, considering some of us aren’t able to log in due to being punished, or other various reasons. Along with that, it is now possible to link your Discord account to the portal. This feature allows users to view your Discord profile, and more. Some new leaderboards have also been added. These consist of a crate key leaderboard, and an oldest players leaderboard. Although they aren’t the most essential leaderboards, they are a good touch, and makes things a little more interesting. Another new useful portal feature is an offline messages feature. This essentially allows you to view any messages sent to you in-game using /msg command while you were offline. Now, if something important had come though to you, the message is still there to be read on the portal. Finally, there have also been lots of small changes to player profiles, such as being able to view a player’s vote status, all kills and deaths, and much more. [Mighty] Thanks. On the Discord side of things, a new system has been added where you can sync your in-game tier to get a role on Discord. These roles currently give you no extra perks, and are just a cosmetic role, so they are pretty pointless at the moment. Secondly, the Honoured role colour has been changed from a light blue, to an orange to avoid confusion with other roles such as mod.
Some more in-game news. Short announcements can now be displayed on the boss bar at the top of your screen, and friend requests now remain after logging out of the Network, more like the Discord friend request system. There is also new lobby NPCs for minigames in the main lobby. Here’s a short preview of them. Now, there’s some exciting updates due to arrive soon. Here’s one of them. [Halloween Lobby Walkthough] For the month of October, NetherGames will have another pumpkin hunt, which like usual, will have a cosmetic reward, but we won’t spoil that for you. Additionally, this year, there will be a few more somethings along with the pumpkin hunt, so keep your eyes peeled for that! There is also a custom version of the lobby which you can see now.
[tek] Finally, there has been quite a few staff updates over the past couples of weeks. me, tek, Chris, and Isaak were all promoted from Mod, to Supervisor, Nico, and Steam were both promoted from Crew, to Mod, Jax, Hood, and DJ were promoted from Trainee, to Crew, and the last promotion being Zablanity being promoted from Trainee Builder, to Builder. Additionally, Nico, me, and Shadow were all welcomed to the Social Media Team a few weeks ago, Nico *also* became a Trainee Support rep, and Ampossible and dqrk became a Trainee. Congratulations to all those staff members! That’s quite a lot of promotions suddenly. Now for some more unfortunate staff news. Designer, Grasstown, Trainees, DrSikeu, Anqelifyy (sorry if I pronounced that wrong), and Crew member CloudySheets have all resigned. We wish them farewell. Here’s Mighty again.
